Luzhny Keeps His Place As Arsenal Are Beaten !
Oleg Luzhny kept his place at right-back in the Arsenal first team, ahead of Lee Dixon, as they went down 1-0 to Leeds United at Elland Road yesterday. Luzhny received a Yellow Card asThe Gunners had seven players booked along the way and manager Arsene Wenger was restrained from reaching the match referee Dermot Gallagher at the end of the game.

Spartak Moscow 4-1 Arsenal !
Oleg Luzhnyreturned to Champions League action in Moscow tonight as Arsenal were thrashed 4-1 by Spartak Moscow despite taking a lead in just the second minute of the game. Luzhny was given a frosty reception from the Spartak fans on an icy cold evening as Arsenal under-performed, though he did manage to 'gallop' forward on the overlap on several occassions.

Lee Dixon and Oleg Luzhny are contesting the right back place in tomorrow night's Champions League game against Spartak Moscow in Russia. Dixon picked up an injury at Goodison Park on Saturday but appears to have recovered.

Oleg Luzhny played the full 90-minutes of the match as an under-strength Arsenal were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by Everton in their Premiership clash at Goodison Park, ending Arsenal's unbeaten Premiership run of 12-games. Luzhny had a proverbial 'stinker' and could possibly be faulted for both of Everton's goals as Arsenal found it hard to get into the game and suffered their first ever Premiership defeat at Goodison. Arsenal remain in second place in the League Table but are now five points behind Manchester United.

Oleg Luzhny may return for tomorrow's Premiership home game against bottom of the league Derby County and Arsenal could well be at nearly full-strength. Luzhny could replace Lee Dixon, who made the trip to the Ukraine in midweek and a recall for Tony Adams is on hold but goalkeeper David Seaman has every chance of recovering from his shoulder injury.

Oleg Luzhny was rested from the Arsenal squad as they went down 3-0 to the Shakhtar Donesk in tonight's Champions League game in the Ukraine, their first defeat of their current Champions League campaign, though Arsenal still finished top of their Group table. Arsenal had been cleared by UEFA to field an under-strength team as they had already secured their qualification to the next stage of the competition but Arsene Wenger surprised many observers with the inclusion of many of his leading lights.
