Pires Keeps His Place As Arsenal Are Beaten !
Robert Pires kept his place in the Arsenal first team as they went down 1-0 to Leeds United at Elland Road yesterday. The Gunners had seven players booked along the way and manager Arsene Wenger was restrained from reaching the match referee Dermot Gallagher at the end of the game. Pires was involved in an incident with Leeds' coach David O'Leary in the tunnel at the end of the game and was incensed at what he believes were insulting gestures made by O'Leary towards him. The FA are believed to be looking into the incident.

Spartak Moscow 4-1 Arsenal !
Robert Pires returned to Champions League action in Moscow tonight as Arsenal were thrashed 4-1 by Spartak Moscow despite taking a lead in just the second minute of the game. Arsenal under-performed throughout though Pires worked hard in midfield and on the left flank, showing some good touches without ever proving to be decisive before being replaced by lauren late in the game.

Robert Pires played for the full 90-minutes of the match as an under-strength Arsenal were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by Everton in their Premiership clash at Goodison Park, ending Arsenal's unbeaten Premiership run of 12-games. Arsenal found it hard to get into the game as they suffered their first ever Premiership defeat at Goodison. Arsenal remain in second place in the League Table but are now five points behind Manchester United.

Robert Pires was rested from the Arsenal squad as they went down 3-0 to the Shakhtar Donesk in tonight's Champions League game in the Ukraine, their first defeat of their current Champions League campaign, though Arsenal still finished top of their Group table. Arsenal had been cleared by UEFA to field an under-strength team as they had already secured their qualification to the next stage of the competition but Arsene Wenger surprised many observers with the inclusion of many of his leading lights.
