Vieira
In From The Start As Arsenal
Are Beaten !
Patrick Vieira made a surprisng
return to the Arsenal starting
eleven as they went down 1-0
to Leeds United at Elland
Road yesterday. Vieira
had been expected to miss
the match after failing to
recover from the ankle injury
that he picked up whilst playing
for France. The French midfielder
was one of Arsenal's better
performers on the day, despite
not quite appearing to be
fully match fit. The Gunners
had seven players booked along
the way and manager Arsene
Wenger was restrained from
reaching the match referee
Dermot Gallagher at the end
of the game. Vieira could
be in trouble with the FA
as television replays clearly
showed him to be involved
in an off the ball 'head-butting'
incident with Eirik Bakke,
and appearing to kick out
at Olivier Dacourt, who is
Vieira's great friend off
the pitch, in another incident.

Arsenal
Held In Bore-Draw !
Patrick
Vieira played for the full 90-minutes as bottom
of the table Derby County held Arsenal to a goal-less
draw
at Highbury this afternoon. It was probably Arsenal's
sloppiest performance so far this season and Derby
had the best of the chances, with Vieira almost
presenting a clear chance to Derby's Malcolm Christie
as a sliding tackle deflected back towards his own
goal and was intercepted by the striker. Christie
turned well in the box and found Delap but he wasted
a clear chance. LIVE MATCH REPORT

Arsenal
At Almost Full Strength !
Patrick
Vieira and Silvinho are both likely to feature in
tomorrow's Premiership home game against bottom of
the league Derby County after being rested for the
midweek Champions League game against Shahktar Donetsk.
Arsenal could well be at full-strength as David Seaman
has every chance of recovering from his shoulder injury
in time for the game but a recall for Tony Adams is
on hold. Oleg Luzhny may also return after having
recovered from a slight knee injury and he could replace
Lee Dixon, who did make the trip to the Ukraine.

Juventus
Target Vieira!
Juventus
are believed to be ready to mount a £20m bid for
Arsenal's Patrick Vieira. The Italian side were eliminated
from the Champions League in midweek and are ready to
restructure their squad. Edgar Davids and Alessandro
Del Piero could be leaving in the near future and Vieira
is seen as an ideal replacement for Davids. An earlier
offer of £15m from Juve for Vieira was turned
town in the summer.

Rested as Arsenal are Beaten In Ukraine !
Patrick Vieira
was rested from the Arsenal squad as they went down 3-0
to the Shakhtar Donesk in tonight's Champions League game
in the Ukraine, their first defeat of their current Champions
League campaign, though Arsenal still finished top of
their Group table. Arsenal had been cleared by UEFA to
field an under-strength team as they had already secured
their qualification to the next stage of the competition
but Arsene Wenger surprised many observers with the inclusion
of many of his leading lights.
