Wiltord
In From The Start As Arsenal
Are Beaten !
Sylvain Wiltord was in the
Arsenal starting line-up
as they went down 1-0 to
Leeds United at Elland Road
yesterday. The
Gunners had seven players
booked along the way and
manager Arsene Wenger was
restrained from reaching
the match referee Dermot
Gallagher at the end of
the game. Silvinho almost
managed to give Arsenal
the lead around the half-hour
mark, when Robinson could
only parry his shot back
to the Brazilian who set
up Wiltord for a great chance
only to see the Frenchman
waste his shot with a very
poor effort. Wiltord
went on to waste two good
second-half chances before
finally being replaced by
Kanu shortly after hitting
the post.

Spartak
Moscow 4-1 Arsenal !
Sylvain Wiltord returned to Champions
League action in Moscow tonight
as Arsenal were thrashed 4-1 by
Spartak Moscow despite taking a
lead in just the second minute of
the game. Wiltord started the game
on the bench but replaced Kanu in
the 66th minute. Arsenal under-performed
throughout though Wiltord did look
threatening on occassions, though
the game was soon out of Arsenal's
grasp and the task of turning their
fortunes around was beyond him.

Arsenal
Held In Bore-Draw !
Sylvain Wiltord
played for the full 90-minutes as bottom of the table
Derby County held Arsenal to a goal-less draw
at Highbury this afternoon. It was probably Arsenal's
sloppiest performance so far this season and Derby had
the best of the chances, but Wiltord was Arsenal's most
dangerous player with his lively movement throughout
the game. He played Thierry Henry clean through for
Arsenal's best and only real chance of the game but
Henry stroked his shot wide of the far post, then late
in the game he forced a good save from Mart Poom with
an effort from 20-yards out. LIVE MATCH REPORT

Arsenal
Beaten In Ukraine !
Several of Arsenal's big name players, including Sylvain
Wiltord, featured in tonight's Champions League game against
Shakhtar Donetsk. Arsenal had been cleared by UEFA to
field an under-strength team as they had already secured
their qualification to the next stage of the competition
but Arsene Wenger surprised many observers with the inclusion
of many of his leading lights. With the score standing
at 0-0 Wiltord had a first half 'goal' disallowed, he
picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area and curled
it around the keeper into the net, but an offside was
given against him. There was some dispute as to whether
or not the goal should have stood and the incident could
have proved to have been the turning point of the game.
Early in the second half, with the Ukranian's leading
1-0, Wiltord combined well with Thierry Henry but another
offside was given as Henry rounded the Ukranian keeper
and slipped the ball into the empty net. Wiltord played
for the full 90-minutes as Arsenal went down 3-0 to the
Ukranian team, their first defeat of their current Champions
League campaign, though Arsenal still finished top of
their Group table.
