An
England international and Arsenal right full back, Dixon
is a member of the famous Arsenal 'back-four', one of
the best defensive line-ups seen in the modern English
game.
Despite
his age Dixon was given a new one year contract by Asenal
at the end of their 1997-98 double winning season and
was recalled to the England team in February 1999, though
he suffered concussion during his comeback game against
France and had to be replaced.
Dixon
was almost ever present throughout the '98-'99 season
and was once again offered a contract extension during
the close season. He
notched up his 500th first team appearance during last
season and
over 22,000 fans turned out for his testimonial game against
Real Madrid.
A
naturally attacking full-back, and still an automatic
first choice at Highbury, Dixon is always keen to get
forward and has forged a good understanding with Ray Parlour
on the right side of the Arsenal midifeld. For a defender
he scores his fair share of goals and managed four in
last season's Premiership campaign.
