Lauren,
the Cameroon international midfielder, was voted Player
of the Tournament after his side won the African Nations
Cup in 2000. He spent his early career in the Primera
League and transfered to Arsenal from Spanish club Real
Mallorca in summer 2000.
He
scored his first Arsenal goal in the Premiership game
against Liverpool, before departing for the Sydney Olympics
with Cameroon where he picked up a Gold medal. He was
quickly on the score sheet for Arsenal on his return,
scoring against Sparta Prague in the Champions League
home game.
