Nicknamed
"The Horse' for his galloping runs up the field,
Luzhny joined Arsenal after ten years with Dynamo Kiev,
where he won seven consecutive Ukrainian League Championships.
He
hasn't yet become an automatic first choice at Arsenal,
normally providing cover for Keown or Adams, but both
of those players are rather injury prone, which has allowed
Luzhny his chance.
A
full international with Ukraine for over ten years, eventually
becoming the captain, Luzhny can play as a central defender,
though his normal position is that of a right full back.
He had previously made international appearances with
the former Soviet Union.
