Malz arrived at Highbury from TSV 1860 Munchen in June 1999 for £610,000. He managed a goal against Preston North End on his Arsenal debut in last year's Worthington Cup but had to wait for another four months before he made his first Premeirship appearance.

A left-sided midfield player, his role at Arsenal appears to be that of a squad player and he will find it hard to break through to the first team.
