Silvinho
arrived at Highbury from Brazilian club Corinthians in
the summer of 1999 as a long term replacement for Nigel
Winterburn. He's an attacking left full-back who can also
play in midfield and is capeable of scoring some spectacular
goals and has already hit the net against Sparta Prague
and Charlton Athletic so far this season.
His
performances earned him two international caps for Brazil
in summer 2000, though both appearances were as part of
Brazil's trip to Europe, playing against England and Wales
in two friendly matches, which appeared to be consistent
with Coach Wanderley Luxemburgo's policy of playing 'home'
based Brazilian players when the national side were on
their travels. It remains to be seen if he will add to
his number of caps.
