Vivas has found it hard to gain a regular starting place at Arsenal despite being a regular in the Argentina national side. He appeared for his country at the 1998 World Cup in France and their Coppa America games in 1999. He has featured in some of Argentina's World Cup Qualifying games for 2002, though he had to go on loan to Celta Vigo in Spain in order to get regular first team club football last season

Vivas can play on both sides of the defence and in midifeld and is a remarkably good header of the ball , given his small stature.
