Following
a terrific season with Bordeaux in 1998-1999, where he
finished the top scorer in the French Championship, Wiltord
became a regular international with France. Though the
goals dried up for the 1999-2000 season with Bordeaux
he did manage to win a European Champions Winners medal
with France at Euro 2000.
Wiltord
spent a spell with Deportivo La Corruna in Spain's Primera
League but soon returned to France without ever playing
for them. He started his career as a specialist winger
but now plays anywhere in attack with equal effect.
He
secured a £13m move to Arsenal in the Summer of
2000 after almost four months of long and protracted transfer
negotiations, becoming Arsenal's most expensive signing
ever.
