Baggio has undergone an operation to
reconstruct the
cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
Doctor's are optomistic tha the will
be able to make a full recovery within
3-months but he will miss the rest of
the season. His dreams of appearing
in a fourth consecutive World Cup are
over, but last night he issued a statement
of his intent to return to football
after press reports suggested that he
would retire. Baggio has gone to Bologna
in order to recuperate.

too swollen then he is due undergo a
scan
today. The club doctor fears that his
season is over and won't be drawn into
estimating how long it will take him
to recover. Baggio's inclusion for the
Azzuri World Cup squad must now be only

Nakata returned to action to help his
Parma side to a 2-0 victory over Brescia
in their Coppa Italia Semi-Final 1st
Leg game at the Ennio Tardini Stadium.
Nakata opened the scoring for Parma
but
the big story of the game was another
injury to Roberto Baggio. Baggio came
on for Brescia as a half-time substitute
but injured his left knee and left the
field on a stretcher only 13-minutes

eleven for tomorrow's Coppa Italia Semi-Final
1st Leg clash with Parma. Today on the
training field the coach experimented
with Srnicek in goal, Calori, Petruzzi
and Bonera in defence, Esposito, Antonio
Filippini, Yllana, Sussi and Guana in
midfield, with Giunti and Tare in attack.
Castellazi, Mangone, Schopp, Toni and
Baggio are all likely to start from
the bench. Emanuele Filippini is disqualified.
