CAGLIARI 0-0 MILAN - A lifeless AC MIlan were lucky to survive a visit to Sardinia with a 0-0 draw today, largely due to the heoics of Christian Abbiati in the Milan goal and Cagliari's inability to find the net.

Cagliari Training Today ! - Macellari and O'Neill were given the day off to rest slight injuries, both players are expected to return to training tomorrow and should start in Sunday's game against Milan. Villa and Lopez will be disqualified and Ulivieri will wait until Thursday before choosing their replacements.

Three Match Ban ! - Cagliari's Lopez has been handed down a three match suspension following the incident in the tunnel at the end of Saturday's game against Venezia. Venezia's Valtolina has been given a 1-match suspension.

Concern at Cagliari ! - Cagliari are worried that the Sporting Judge wil hand down severe punishments to Cagliari over the incident at the end of Sunday's game against Venezia. Caglairi are claiming that Valtolina insigated the trouble by saying to Lopez "I will wait for you outside" and that Valtolina threw the first punch. Matteo Villa has said that he didn't see the inciident as he was in the dressing room but that he can't believe that three Cagliari players took part in the assault and that the Judge should not rely on "unreliable evidence from people who saw nothing". Both teams are fighting relegation from Serie-A and a heavy disqualification wil surely hamper Cagliari's chances of survival. The linesman, Renato Buda, is reported to have seen the whole incident. Scarpi, the Cagliari goalkeeper, has said that Lopez and Berretta were only trying to break up the fight.

 
Cagliari Training Today ! - Patrick Mboma will return to Cagliari on Thursday following Cameroon's victory in the African Nations Cup, he may be used for the Coppa Italia game against Inter Milan that evening.

Valtolina Hospitalised - Venezia's Fabio Valtolina was attacked by three Cagliari players in the tunnel as he left the field following yesterday's Venezia-v-Cagliari game. Maurizio Ganz has said that Valtolina was held by two Cagliari players whilst the third player hit him and he named Lopez, Scarpi and Berretta as the culprits. Lopez has confirmed his involvement stating , "I have hit Valtolina, but the issue is between him and me, but he provoked me on the field, I have been told he has gone to hospital and that fact does not please me. I know I will now face a long period of disqualification but I will come back to hep save Cagliari from relegation". One of the linesmen is believed to have helped to diffuse the situation. Valtolina sufferd cuts and bruises to his thorax and his face but left hospital last night. Things were no better on the terraces as racist and insulting banners continued to be displayed and a particularly large and insulting banner had to be removed from the stands.

Cagliari Latest ! - Sulcis and Lopez trained with the rest of the squad and have both fully recovered from their injuries. De Patre could start the game against Venezia with Modesto on the substitutes bench. Carrus will replace the disqualified O'Neill in midfield. Abeijon has joined the Primavera squad for their game against Piacenza on Saturday.

Cagliari Training Today ! - Sulcis has recoverd from injury and Lopez looks to be on the way back to recovery, an ecograph test has revealed only bruising to his leg. Both players trained alone this morning before the squad left for Venice. Cagliari wil train at the lagoon in Venice tomorrow.

Cagliari -v- Inter (Preview) ! - Roberto Baggio was missing from the starting line up for the Parma -v- Inter game because he had missed two days training with a slight injury and he could also be missing from tomorrow's game against Cagliari. Recoba received an injury in Sunday's game and his condition will be assessed today, so it's possible that Inter could start with Mutu and Vieri up-front. Zamorano and Jugovic will not travel to Cagliari with the rest of the squad, Jugovic is disqualified. Georgatos and Di Biagio look certain to start he game but Laurent Blanc could be rested. Ferron could play in place of Peruzzi and Fresi could start if he passes a fitness test. For Cagliari Sulcis is missing with a bruised foot and will not play, Diliso should take his place. O'Neill and De Patre are both disqualified and Modesto should start.

Coppa Italia This Week ! - The 1st Legs of the Semi-Finals of the Coppa Italia take place this week with Cagliari -v- Inter on Wednesday (7.45 Kick-Off U.K Time) and Lazio -v- Venezia on Thursday (7.45 Kick-Off U.K Time). The second legs will be played on 16th and 17th of this month with Venezia -v- Lazio on the Wednesday and Inter -v- Cagliari on the Thursday.

 
Cagliari Training ! - Cagliari trained yesterday with Oliveira on the running track and the rest of the squad in light exercise in preperation for Wednesday's Coppa Italia game against Inter. Carrus could replace the disqualified Fabian O'Neill for Wednesday's match but Ulivieri is keen to stress that Serie-A salvation is the number one priority for Cagliari, with important games against Venezia, Torino, Milan and Udinese coming up.

Cagliari Training Today ! - Ulivieri will probably keep an unchanged team for the game against perugia. The only doubt is Villa who has a slight leg injury. Today Cagliari played a friendly game during traing with Bianconi taking Villa's place but he seems likely to watch Saturday's game from the stands. Four players had to provide random urine samples for drug tests.

 
Disqualifications ! - De Patre (Cagliari), Oliveira (Cagliari) and Villa (Cagliari) are all 'diffidati' one booking away from suspension.

In the Coppa Italia De Patre (Cagliari) has received a 1-match ban. Cagliari coach Renzo Ulivieri has also been fined 10-Million Lira for encroaching onto the pitch three times to protest to the referee during Caglairi's victory over Roma and Cagliari have been fined 10-Million Lira

Cagliari Training Today ! - Bianconi, the new signing from Empoli, took part in his first training session with Cagliari today. Villa was missing from training after picking up a slight injury to his leg in the game against Juventus. Cagliari will play a friendly game against their Primavera squad on Wednesday.
