Ivan
Cordoba
Colombian
international defender Ivan Cordoba moved to Inter
in a £10m deal from Argentine club San Lorenzo
in January 2000 and quickly established himself
in the heart of the first team defence.
A
very speedy centre-back, regarded by some as the
fastest in the world, Cordoba was hugely impressive
during Colombia's World Cup 98 qualifying campaign
but was left out of the squad for the finals after
a dip in his domestic club form. Since the last
World Cup Cordoba has regained his position in the
national squad and rarely misses a game for Inter,
though despite regularly finding the net for San
Lorenzo he has yet to score in Serie-A.
Cordoba's
goals for the Colombian national sqaud normally
come from the penalty spot. He's been a vital member
of their World Cup qualifying squad and their Coppa
America squad, scoring the winning goal in the Final
of the 2001 competition, but missed out on the season
before last's runners-up slot in the Gold Cup in
the United States.
