The two teams enter the arena and Perugia get the game started

Milan are the first team to launch an attack

Ambrosini is fouled on the edge of the Perugia box and Milan get a free-kick. Pirlo's free-kick is hit straight into the defensive wall

Tomasson plays the ball to Kaladze, he crosses into the box, the Perugia defence get the ball clear

Miccoli plays Tedesco through, into midfield but he's stopped by Rui Costa

Serginho and Kaladze combine well to get the ball into the Perugia box

Miccoli tries to break through the midfield, he's stopped by Ambrosini

Ambrosini does well to find Tomasson on the edge of the area, the Perugia defence do well to thwart him

Milan win the ball in midfield, Neta puts a cross into the box but the move breaks down

Vryzas tries a speculative shot from distance but the ball ends up in the stands

Inzaghi does well on the edge of the box but Tomasson is caught in an offside position

Rui Costa plays Inzaghi into teh box but Kalac, the Perugia keeper, wins the ball

Milan are finding it hard to break down the Perugia side and are making too many errors as they try to build their moves

Serginho gets past Baronio but he's pulled down, right on the edge of the box

Pirlo's free-kick is wasted but Rui Costa retrieves the ball and shoots from distance, Kalac is equal to his effort and makes a sound save

Inzaghi gets the ball on the right, he shoots from 20-yards out but it causes no problems for Kalac

Miccoli is fouled and Perugia get a free-kick, deep inside the Milan half. The free-kick is taken but is easily dealt with by the Milan defence

Milan are building well but all of their moves are breaking down on the edge of the Perugia box

Serginho gets a header in, but it's not good enough

Kaladze commits a foul on Miccoli. Perugia get a free-kick by the corner-flag

Pirlo puts another free-kick into the box, Baronio heads it clear

Rui Costa tries a shot from distance, the rebound falls to Serginho but he hits it too high

Perugia win a corner. Grosso crosses for Miccoli but Simic beats him to the ball

Perugia win another corner, this time the cross is met by Miccoli, whose header goes just over the bar

Miccoli goe son a mazy dribbling run, he's eventually brought down on the edge of the box and Perugia get a free-kick

Ze Maria's free-kick is deflected behind for a corner to Perugia

Milan break through the midfield, again alac makes the save, this time from Pirlo's cross

Kaladze and Serginho combine well, Serginho's cross wins a corner-kick

Inzaghi plays a terrific ball in to Tomasson but his ball control is terrible and the chance is wasted

Maldini tries to find Serginho but the Brazilian can't reach the ball

Milan get forward. Pirlo finds Rui Costa and he forces a good save from Kalac

Maldini gives Milan the lead in the 40th minute of the game

A high ball deceived the keeper and Maldini stole in to score with a header

Tomasson plays Inzaghi through but he take stoo long on the ball and the chance is wasted

Serginho plays the ball through to Tomasson, he tries a snap-shot but it comes to nothing

The referee blows for half-time as loud thunder breaks loudly over the San Siro Stadium

Second Half Starts

Kaladze puts a cross over for Inzaghi and once again he wastes the chance by taking too long on the ball

Milan get the ball forward again but a lack of communication on the edge of the box allows Baronio to clean up at the back

Rui Costa plays a long ball forward looking for Tomasson but the Perugia defence read the situation well and they get the ball clear

Grosso puts a cross into the Milan box, Dida is forced to come and punch the ball clear

INzaghi adds Milan's second goal in the 50th minute

Kaladze plays a good bal through, Di Loreto and Kalac get in each other's way slightly and Pippo doesn't waste his chance

Milan build well but Tomasson's final touch is poor

Caracciolo replaces Vryzas for Perugia in the 54th minute

Serginho breaks into the Perugia box but he looses control of the ball just as he's about to shoot

Perugia come forward but hey can't break through the Milan defence

On the hour mark the heavens finally break over the San Siro, very heavy rain and loud thunderstorms

Seedorf replaces Rui Costa for Milan in the 63rd minute

Berrettoni replaces Baronio for Perugia in the 64th minute

Seedorf adds Milan's third goal in the 65th minute, just two minutes after coming on to the field

Inzaghi found Seedorf in an unmarked position and all he had to do was thread the ball through the keeper and into the net

Perugia get forward and win a corner but the Milan defence have little trouble in dealing with it

Miccoli tries to get forward but he's beaten by Simic

Obodo replaces Miccoli for Perugia in the 73rd minute

Berretoni gets to the edge of the Milan box but he can't make the room for a shot

Ibrahim Ba replaces Dario Simic for Milan in the 79th minute

Berrettoni does well but Dida makes two good saves

The rain is stil faling heavily inside the stadium, making ball-control difficult

Serginho tries a shot, his effort goes just wide

Tedesco gets a shot on target but Dida is equal to his effort

Tomasson is brought down by Blasi insid ethe box, the referee awayards a penalty, despite the protests of the Perugia players

Serginho's penalty kick hits the post !
