Dino
Baggio
Dino Baggio arrived at the Stadio
Olimpico just before the first transfer window closed
at the start of the 2000-2001 season,
as part of the swop deal that took Nestor Sensini back
to Parma. Baggio is
a vastly experienced central midifelder, though he no
longer appears to be part of the Azzuri set-up. He made
his international debut back in December 1991 but failed
to make the squad for Euro 2000 and after wining 59 caps
his international days appear to be over.
Baggio
started his career with Torino, where he spent three seasons,
before moving to Inter Milan for one season and then Juventus.
Parma made an approach for him in 1994 and at first he
turned down the chance to move, but had a re-think and
settled in well with the gialloblu, eventually becoming
club captain.
Baggio's
form appears to have dropped off over the last two or
three years and he has shown flashes of an increasing
lack of discipline, probaly as a result of his own frustration.
He was expected to move back into a more defensive role
at Parma last season but made a surprising early switch
to the champions Lazio after six seasons with his former
club.
