The
younger brother of Juventus' Pippo Inzaghi, Simone really
burst on the scene in the 1998/1999 season with Piacenza,
scoring 15 Serie-A goals in 30 appearances in his first
season in the top flight.
Life
was never going to be easy for him at Lazio but his transition
to a full Italian international has been impressive, as
has his goal tally. He has only two Azzuri appearances
so far and it remains to be seen if he will make it to
the very top after failing to make the Italian Euro 2000
squad, but his goalscoring record is still impressive.
Since
the arrivals of Hernan Crespo and Claudio Lopez at Lazio,
his chances are limited, but he has taken them when offered,
scoring four goals in last season's Champions League victory
over Marseilles, twice in this season's game against Sparta
Prague and both goals in the Serie-A game against Brescia
after coming on as a substitute.
