Internazionale
2-2 Juventus
Whilst
it's refreshing to see a U.K daily taking Serie-A seriously
it would be a little more heartening if your correspondent
actually knew a little bit about Italian football. Internazionale
are not 'hard on the heels of leaders Roma' they
are in fact level with Roma at the top of the table, there
is and has never been any allowence for goal-difference
in Serie-A. If two teams are level on points at the end
of the season then there will be a play-off, which last
occurred in 1964 when Bologna took the title.
It's also a little bit puzzling to find that despite the
fact you've bothered to send somebody to the game, he failed
to mention the injuries, during the game, to Lilian Thuram,
David Trezeguet and Alessandro del Piero, which might just
have had some effect on the outcome.
There
also appears to be some minor disagreement when their correspondant
says 'they (inter) were hindered by a negative 4-4-1-1
formation', now I know this is a minor gripe but Cuper
alway's plays 4-4-2 and I can't find a single Italian authority
that says they didn't keep to this on Saturday night.
Inter played 4-4-2 and even threw on three strikers for
the final phase of the game, Ventola, Kallon and Vieri all
finished the game for Inter.
In
a seperate article, also in today's paper, it's strange
that there was no mention of the fact that Alessandro Nesta
had possibly the worst game of his entire career during
Sunday evening's 'Rome Derby'.
By
the way, I know I'm just being pedantic but the game was
played at the Giuseppi Meazza Stadium, San Siro is
a Racecourse.
