Sheffield Contracts ! - Sheffield Wednesday have denied that they have withdrawn their offers of new contracts to Peter Atherton, Danny Sonner and Ian Nolan. The three players all declined to sign new contracts before the transfer deadline and all three will be avaialable on 'free-transfers' at the end of this season.

Carbone Crisis ! - Benito Carbone's contract talks with Aston Villa may have reached a crisis point. The stumbling block appears to be the amount of compensation that Villa have agreed to pay Sheffield Wednesday . Villa had agreed to pay a further £750,000 to Wednesday if they signed Carbone on a more permanent basis but the players excessive personal terms and this extre fee may prove too much for Villa Chairman Doug Ellis to part with.

 
Oakes Returns ! - Steffan Oakes, the Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, is expected to play in tonight's reserve team game against Middlesbrough reserves after missing the last 18-month's with knee ligament trouble. Phil Scott is also hoping to complete the game, his second match since returning from an Achilles injury.
