Morientes put Real Madrid's season back on track
when he helped himself to five goals during
their 7-0 rout of Las Palmas today. Real welcomed
Zinedine Zidane back into the starting line-up
and he also managed to put his name on the scoresheet
along with Angel but the headlines belong to
Morientes as Real moved back to the top of the
table.

were held to a 0-0 draw by fellow title challengers
Celta Vigo today,
slipping to 2nd place in the process, but level
on points with leaders Real Madrid. Celta are
in 3rd place, 2-points off the lead.

- Barca's title surge faltered slightly today
when they were held to a goalless draw away
to the struggling Real Mallorca.

title hopes suffered a setback today as they
were held to a goalless draw by Villareal.

injury time goal from Martin Posse gave Espanyol
a narrow 1-0 victory over Valladolid today after
the visitors had Pena dismissed in the 70th
minute following a second bookable offence.

- MALAGA 1-0 ALAVES - A last minute
goal from Dely Vales gave Malaga a 1-0 win over
Alaves today
as the visitors one time serious title hopes
appear to have vanished.

- REAL SOCIADAD 3-1 REAL ZARAGOZA
- Two recruits from Serie-A were on the scoresheet
today as Real Sociadad beat Zaragoza 3-1. Darko
Kovacevic opened the scoring for the home side
and Savo Milosevic managed to get one back for
Zaragoza.

- OSASUNA 1-0 RAYO VALLECANO -
Sabino's 65th minute goal was enough for Osasuna
to claim all 3-points as they beat Rayo Vallecano
1-0 at home today.

- TENERIFE 1-1 SEVILLE - A Jordi
Cruyff equaliser, deep into injury time, meant
that Tenerife and Seville shared the points
today. The visitors had taken an early lead
when Moises converted
a penalty in the 14th minute. Cruyff's equaliser
came in the 94th minute of the game.

- REAL BETIS - ATHLETICO BILBAO
- Betis and Athletico shared the points today
after Yeste had given the visitors a 4th minute
lead. Dani struck the equaliser for Betis in
the 20th minute. Varela
was dismissed for the home side in the 90th
minute, only 6-minutes after coming on as a
substitute.
